Abstract
The state of Mardin is located in south eastern Turkey in the Mesopotamia between the two rivers: (Degla and Euphrates), and a large part of its the population are of Arab origin, and they have preserved their Arabic language for hundreds of years, though they speak local dialect now-a-days, which is a famous dialect of the Arabic language and was spoken by the Banu Shayban, the tribes of Bakr, Rabi’a, Taqilab and others. The University of Mardin Artoklu opened a group of scientific departments to teach students in Standard Arabic, and established a department for teaching Arabic to non-speakers of other Turkish and foreign students. The local Arabic dialect in Mardin State helped foreign students to learn the language and dialect of the city, when the students began to speak with the city’s residents in their native language. Therefore, in this research, we studied the Arabic language in Mardin, and explained the influence of the local dialect and its great role in teaching Arabic to the domains with other languages at Mardin Artuklu University.
