LISAN AL-ARAB AS A SOURCE FOR INTERPRETING THE HOLY QUR’AN SURAH QAAF AS A CASE STUDY
لسان العرب مصدرًا لتفسير القرآن الكريم. سورة ق نموذجًا
Abstract
This research examines Ibn Manzûr's methodology for interpreting the Holy Qur'an through his dictionary, Lisân al-Arab, and the extent to which he was influenced by preceding exegetes and linguists. The core objective is to unveil the exegetical and linguistic significance of Lisân al-Arab and demonstrate how Ibn Manzûr contributed to Qur'anic interpretation by accurately applying his linguistic knowledge to clarify the meanings of the verses. The study is structured in three chapters: Linguistic tradition-based exegesis (Tafsir bi al-Ma'thur al-Lughawi). Religious tradition-based exegesis (Tafsir bi al-Ma'thur al-Dini), including the use of the Qur'an, Hadith, Companions', and Successors' sayings. Compilation and analysis of his views on Sūrat Qāf (Qaf). The conclusion asserts that Ibn Manzûr was not merely a language compiler, but possessed an authentic exegetical tendency, establishing Lisân al-Arab as a vital source for Qur'anic exegesis.
