Abstract

Ibn Abdu Rabih is an outstanding Arabic writer of Andalusian literature of the ninth century Cordoba. His works are very notable as they combine the classical Arabic traditions and the creative spirit of Al-Andalus and add to the rich Arabic literature. His most significant works are Al Iqdul Fareed (The Unique Necklace) and al-Dhakhira which are a blend of prose and poetry, and an indication of the Andalusian culture, politics and geography on his style. He was inspired by the literary creativity of his cities such as Cordoba and Seville which were lively in terms of their culture. The works of Ibn Abdu Rabih represent the harmonious fusion of aesthetic work and philosophical written work that influenced the culture of Andalusian literature significantly. His work did not only contribute to classical Arabic tradition but also impacted the modern Arabic literature bringing out the different intellectual and social milieu of Al-Andalus. This heritage makes him one of the most influential authors in the evolution and richness of the Arabic literature.
