CONTRIBUTION OF MUHAMMAD ISHAQ AL-MIWATI AL-AMINI TO ARABIC POETRY AND ISLAMIC SCIENCES IN INDIA

Abstract

Mewat region in India has produced a good number of thinkers, authors, poets, and literary personalities throughout history.  These personalities had served the community with their writings, poetry, teachings, and other social services, that’s why these literary personalities enjoy special status in the community. Abu Yaqub Mohamed Is’haq Mewati Amini was one of these literary figures who served the community with his poetry, teaching of Hadith, and other writings. He wrote many books on various topics related to Islamic sciences along with his poetry collection. This article aims to talk about the personality of Abu Yaqub Mohamed Is’haq Mewati Amini and highlight his literary contribution to the development of Arabic poetry in the region of Mewat in India. The Poet Abu Yaqub was born in a village called Uttawar District Nuh Mewat in Haryana in 1924, He started his formal education when he was 10 years old in the government school. Then he moved to Delhi wherein he completed his Islamic education in different Madrasas like, Madrasa Subhania Delhi, Madrasa Aminia Delhi & Madrasa Kashiful Ulum Nizamuddin Delhi. He died on 4th June 2022 after a prolonged illness.
