Abstract

Since the advent of Islam India has been proving to be cradle of outstanding personalities in different fields of Islam and Arabic language & Literature. The Arabs who came to India did not forget their language and literature, and after their arrival to India they found it a fertile land for Arabic poetry also. So they composed poems as well as they up brought some great poets of Arabic who found place in the famous collections of Arabic poetry. As regards the field of Islamic Studies India became the second great centre of Islam and its sciences.

There are numerous cities and districts in India which produced persona of their fields who excelled in different branches of Islamic Studies like Shah Waliullah of Delhi and his sons and grandsons, Allamah Siddique Hasan Khan and his followers, Maulana Qasim Nanautawi, Allamah Faizul Hasan Saharanpuri and his students, and Shibli Numani and his pupils. Being a great centre of Islamic sciences Deoband also produced several personalities in this field the most famous among them was Hakim Qari Muhammad Tayyib Deobandi. He wrote several books on Islamic Studies and contributed a lot to the progress and development of Darul Ulum of Deoband. The coming article is a simple attempt to highlight his services and to introduce him among the readers of the Journal.
