ECONOMIC BEHAVIOR IN THE PROPHET’S SEERAH

The economy is an important concern among individuals and groups to secure a good, enjoyable life. Therefore, the call to seek justice for the miserable and save the poor and needy was prophets and messengers’ duty. Given the substantial influence of the economy in this era and the seriousness of economic crises suffered by many countries, it is necessary to examine the prophet’s economic behavior. This is because his actions encouraged the finest, just cooperative systems that regulated ownership, achieved social solidarity, and abolished class inequalities and injustice. Hence, this paper highlights the prophet’s economic behavior as an individual and a leader by showing his economic behavior privately, with his family, and in his work, and his method in applying economic reforms to eradicate corruption, authoritarianism, and injustice. These reforms included prohibiting usury, deception, and monopoly; invalidating corrupt conditions; specifying legal weights and measures; adhering al-Kharaj bil Dhaman; encouraging righteousness, honesty, charity, tolerance, and ease when buying and selling; urging forgiving the regretful and lending the people in difficulty time and support; supplying the Islamic state’s water to people; fighting against begging; establishing a free, self-reliant Islamic market; and others.
