THE BOOK ‘ḤARAKAH AL-TARJAMAH FĪ AL-AṢR AL-‘ABBĀSĪ’, AN ANALYTICAL STUDY

Translation movement is as old as the history of human being or a little late. This movement not only helped to facilitate understanding and dealing with one another it also transferred one nation’s culture to the other. Thus not only trade flourished through this movement human culture also developed with the help of translation.The book in hand deals with the movement of Arabic translation starting from pre-Islamic period and how it flourished and what the Arabic gained from it as well as its contribution towards development of other nations. This is a valuable work written in Arabic by a famous Indian scholar of his time. It was first published from al-Ḥarf al-‘Arabī Press, Beirut in 205. It was, then, translated into English and Urdu. The book is in 12 chapter containing 159 pages. This article is a humble effort to shed light on the importance and contents of the book.
