Abstract

Arabic reached India and Pakistan before Islam. The Arab merchants who visited different parts of united India (India and Pakistan) talked the Indians in their own language. This is why several Indians knew Arabic and used this language for their secret talks. But when Islam came to this land, it developed Arabic much on its soil. Later Muslim rulers opened religious schools wherein they taught Islamic sciences in this language. As a result several scholars and poets of Arabic emerged from this soil and got appreciated by the native Arabs.Among these many authors and poets are Amir Khusrau, Sheikh Abu Bakr, Qazi Hamiduddin Dehlawi, Qazi Abdul Muqtadir, Ahmad Thanesari, Muhammad bin Yusuf Bandah-nawaz, Abu Yahya Malebari, Shah Ahmad Shari, Muhaddis Ali Muttaqi, Abul Faiz Nagori and others. These scholars and poets not only authored valuable books and composed excellent poems but also they excelled in some other fields. But the following paper will only point out their short introduction and discuss their works either poetic or prose.
