AL-DIYA JOURNAL: INTRODUCTION AND STUDY
مجلة "الضياء"، تعريف ودراسة
Abstract
Indo Arab relations date back to Kaurava and Pandavas’ time. They used Arabic as their secret language for negociatinns. Since then Arabic flourished in India and the advent of Islam acted as a fuel to this fire when these two worlds emerged as close lingual friends. All Arabic and Islamic sciences were introduced and contributed to on the Indian soil including Arabic journalism which was also not deprived of its attention whereas the first Arabic journal ‘al-Naf-‘ul-‘Aẓīm li Ahl-i- Hādhā al-Iqlīm’ was issued in 19ies. Since the publication of this journal numerous Arabic magazines and journals were published from India like ‘al-Bayān’, ‘al-Jāmi’ah’, ‘Thaqāfa-tul-Hind’ and ‘al-Dā’ī’. Nadwat-ul-‘Ulamā’ is one of Indian centres which issued four Arabic journals including ‘al-Ḑiyā’ which is the topic of this paper. In this paper I discussed its beginning, aims and contents and studied it analytically and critically.
