Abstract
Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi) is one of the most famous universities of India. It produced great scholars and social workers. Its several works are prescribed in the curricula of the world universities too. Among its good lucks that it found numerous teachers who dedicated theirselevs to the knowledge and contributed a lot to the development of sciences and arts. Among such celebrated teachers of the Jamia is Muḥammad bin Yῡsuf al-Sῡratī (Rajab 1361H).Yῡsuf Sῡratī not only served the Jamia he also contributed a lot to the development of Arabic and Islamic Studies. Among such contributions of his, there is ‘Azhār-ul-‘Arab’ which he prepared for the students of Jamia Millia Islamia and which was later prescribed in different Islamic madrasas of India.
