ISRA AND MIRAJ IN THE LIGHT OF ILSAMIC ARTS

Abstract

Isra and Miraj are two words which mean the night journey of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the sacred mosque (Baitul Maqdis) and then to the Heaven where he met some messengers and prophets of Allah and discussed them some issues. There are two groups among the Muslims. One believes that this journey happened in real while there ia another group which believes that it was a dream.

Apart from this conflict there is a group of scholars and poets including sufis which has made this journey a simbole through which they go to the Heaven and meet the great persona of their fields. If the scholar is an Arabic poet he meets the great Arabic poets like Imru-ul-Qais, Antarah and amny others. But if the person is a sufi he meets those who believe in his thought and discuss the issue with those who deny it. He also meets Allah.

This article is an analytical and critical study fo such works (both poetic and prose) in Arabic, Persian, Turkisha and Urdu.
